Debi Corts

For being an ultra-positive force in our school for both staff and students.

Kathi Doherty

Anonymous Nomination

September 10, 2004

For her quiet, but committed, campaign to improve the lives of our students. She does so much for our students that falls under the radar. She doesn't do the work for glory; she does it because she cares. I've seen her spend considerable personal time and money to help out individual students. She is always available for them and has made a difference in the lives of countless students. Many who have no other source of daily joy find it in their interactions with her. She does all this in addition to the challenging and interesting curriculum she delivers. She is teachers' hero indeed!

Leslie Cummings

September 13, 2004

For being willing and able to accommodate student requests for help with class changes immediately while managing the workload of two people.

For her limitless creative spirit that she always brings to bear on our work here at SHS. She cares about the quality of our learning environment and is willing to work very hard to make it great. Her work on the Community Committee of School Improvement is making a lasting impression on our staff and her efforts are greatly appreciated.

Brian Boos

Anonymous Nomination

September 27, 2004

Brian seems to be able to draw people in and energize them in the same motion. This is true of both students and staff. It's a joy to watch him in action. He's a wonderful addition to our High School staff.

Korey Bradley

Anonymous Nomination

October 1, 2004

When he first joined our staff a few year ago, I was intrigued by what our students said they were doing in his classes. I didn't think he had much room for improvement. But I was wrong; he's taken his "new" students to a whole new level of understanding in his Global Issues classes. Keep up the "good stuff," Korey.

Elizabeth Cyr

Anonymous Nomination

October 4, 2004

Elizabeth is the driving force behind the stellar Yearbook and Uncaged productions. She has raised the bar significantly with these publications, generating not only superior educational experiences for all the students involved, but a great public relations tool to showcase SHS to the community.

Lissa Steffey

Anonymous Nomination

October 15, 2004

For her dedication to her curriculum and students. Lissa is open-minded and willing to employ cutting-edge methods if she thinks they will benefit her students. She has done so many times, even at the cost of considerable personal time to make an idea work. She is highly inventive and creative.

Lisa Knisely

Anonymous Nomination

November 4, 2004

Every single interaction with Lisa results in a smile or a laugh. It is pleasant, at the very least, to walk into or by her office and most often, it's outright fun or funny. What a happy place because of a delightful person. Many thanks to her for consistently adding value to people's lives and for reliably elevating the mood.

Steve Powell

Anonymous Nomination

January 11, 2005

Going above and beyond the call of duty: Steve heard "through the grapevine" that a freshman basketball player needed shoes. Guest what! He brought in a new pair for the young man. Good deal!

Vicki Holdwick

Anonymous Nomination

January 31, 2005

For generously offering her time and talents to help the SHS staff generate electronic attendance. Vicki has freely assisted us as we manuever through this new system and made the transition seem effortless. This capability frees time for us all to teach and serve our students.

Lucy Learned

Anonymous Nomination

February 4, 2005

For her constant support of staff members and students. She quietly works every day to enrich the lives of others. Particularly to new hires, Lucy is generous with her time and knowledge.

Kathi Doherty

Anonymous Nomination

March 7, 2005

Kathi spends a lot of time (including an inordinate amount of personal time) and energy promoting student volunteerism and community involvement. The Holiday Angels group that she supports does wonderful -and largely unsung- work. A couple additional examples of Kathi's commitment to service include helping a group of students through extensive research on starting a teen community center in Stockbridge and spending a recent weekend day working at a homeless shelter.

Amy Haggerty

Anonymous Nomination

April 14, 2005

For her constant efforts on behalf of her colleagues to create a positive working environment. In union representation, she is always eager to help a fellow staff member and represent our building and interests to the best of her abilities.

Pam Gower

Anonymous Nomination

May 19, 2005

I would like to nominate Pam Gower for the Everyday Hero award for the dedication and passion that she brings to her job. Her example reminds us that the status quo is not good enough when it does not meet the needs of all of our students. She has been a leader in making progressive changes in our school that have positively impacted students and teachers. She also pushes herself in her own classes where she continually develops and refines her curriculum and teaching based on what will best help her students to learn. Her professionalism along with her warm and caring attitude make this school a better place.

Korey Bradley

Anonymous Nomination

April 27, 2005

What a bright light shining on our school community! Korey has rekindled the spirit of SADD by bringing the mission of this student club to the foreground of everyone's mind. From seatbelts to drinking abstinence to prom dresses--he along with the students against destructive decisions--is making a positive impact on our school environment.

Lucy Learned

Anonymous Nomination

June 1, 2005

Lucy Learned organizes our school's two most public events year after year. Honors Night and Graduation, involving scores of awards, details, people, and the logistics involved in the ceremonies, happen annually without a hitch. The time and precision required behind the scenes to execute such large public events faultlessly are a testament to superb organization and attention to detail. The results show off our students, staff, and school in the best possible light. Kudos for her contribution to the "World Class" status of Stockbridge High School.

Amy Haggerty

Anonymous Nomination

August 23, 2005

On behalf of the whole high school staff and District staff, Amy Haggerty helped negotiate the teacher contract, a very difficult and time-consuming task, requiring a great deal of patience, calm, diplomacy, and a huge sacrifice of personal time. Thank you for doing the job for all of us.

What a super media specialist we have here at Stockbridge High School!!!!!! debi has been an excellent resource in not only helping students meet their needs, but also assisting us teachers as well. She is a truly delightful person to work with and talk to. Many thanks for your hard work and cheerful persona.

Sean Williams

Anonymous Nomination

October 2, 2005

Using discipline to educate rather than punish, Sean Williams is masterful at creating opportunities to increase students' awareness of a world larger than Stockbridge, consider ideas bigger than themselves, raise students' level of expectations for themselves, and to promote pride in themselves and their school and community.

Lissa Avis

Anonymous Nomination

October 2, 2005

Lissa Avis spends so much time after school helping her own students AND other teacher's students. She is a math teacher, but she even helps students with their science and English homework. This teacher is so dedicated to unlocking the mystery of learning for ALL students in our school. She continuously uses creative methods in her classroom to reach her students and to relax their frustration muscles. I am proud to have Lissa Avis as a member of the SHS staff.

Debi Corts

Anonymous Nomination

November 2, 2005

For her insight and leadership in professional development for our learning community. She has given attention to an important issue that is facing our students and families. As she brings awareness in all facets of our community to the problem of eating disorders, she will make a positive impact in the lives of our students--and may just save a few.

Elizabeth Cyr

Anonymous Nomination

December 2, 2005

In spite of an extremely busy schedule, Elizabeth consistently makes time to give others a pat on the back. She uses several different methods to regularly recognize individual students for accomplishments or when they need a boost. Arranging the Secret Santa exchange and holiday celebration for the staff are further examples of her thoughtfulness and willingness to go out of her way to make things nice for other people.

Bob Myers
Anonymous Nomination April 18, 2006

Bob Myers is "Consideration" personified. He is quick to anticipate needs without being asked and he is quick to offer help anytime. Going "above and beyond the call of duty," he makes a practice of noticing and taking care of details that often frees teachers from having to think about or tend to management-type tasks. He is great with students as well - every student is treated with respect and greeted with a smile or humor.

Bob Richards

Anonymous Nomination

February 7, 2006

I would like to nominate Bob Richards for the work that he has been doing this year scheduling and maintaining the computer labs. His incredible organizational skills in doing this have allowed teachers to have access to resources that they need to design innovative technology-enriched projects for students. He is always patient and prompt in the scheduling process and has offered help to teachers in the labs countless times, even while he is teaching his own classes. Thank you, Bob, for volunteering to do this for our students and our school.
