TIPS for Video Collaboration
ALWAYS ASSUME the camera and microphone on. (Don't inadvertently "entertain" the other side)
Rehearse your participants. Run through the room set-up and determine who/when/where speaking will take place, so those transitions are smooth during interaction.
IMPORTANT - give the participants a chance to see themselves on the monitor prior to connecting with others, giving them a chance to do all their waving and laughing at seeing themselves on the big screen.
Have a focal point during initial connection period, while you're waiting for everyone to come on board - something interesting (the school mascot, a picture on the wall) is more appealing than a piece of furniture.
